                 GENERAL DEFINITION OF TERMS

                        Opportunities – set of circumstances that can lead to the adoption of new practices,
                        launching of new products and services, addressing new clients and other desirable
                        and viable possibilities to meet CSU’s needs.

                        Performance targets – the desired level of performance as measured by indicators that
                        represent success in achieving CSU’s desired outcomes.

                        Process - set of interrelated or interacting activities that use inputs to deliver an
                        intended result, e.g., delivery of quality tertiary education services is a process with
                        a set of interacting activities performed by authorized departments or units and
                        personnel to ensure quality education.

                        Quality objectives – result to be achieved by CSU; can be strategic, tactical, or
                        operational.

                        Relevant stakeholders’ requirements – needs and expectations of the relevant
                        interested parties that CSU QMS must satisfy.

                        Risk – effect of uncertainty on objectives; often described by an event, a change in
                        circumstance  or  a  consequence;  characterized  and  measured  in  terms  of  its
                        consequence and likelihood or occurrence.

                        Risk analysis - a process that is used to understand the nature, sources, and causes
                        of the identified  risks and to estimate the level of risks; used to study consequences
                        or impacts and likelihood, and to examine the controls that currently exist.

                        Risk and opportunity assessment register – the documented information used to
                        review and monitor the context of C S U and its corresponding risks, opportunities,
                        and treatment or action plan.

                        SWOT analysis - (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats analysis) a
                        framework for identifying and analyzing the internal and external factors that can
                        have an impact on the viability of a CSU’s performance and client satisfaction.

                        Top management – person or group of people who direct and control CSU; usually
                        refers to Executive, Administrative or Academic Councils.
