Dŵr Cymru Collaborations
Our partnership with Dŵr Cymru continued this year as we collaborated for two pupil sessions.
The Climate Change and the Power of Poo session allowed pupils to develop their knowledge
about the role that water can play in tackling the issue of climate change. The sessions also raise
awareness of the importance to stop wasting water at school and at home. The Sewer of Secrets
live event shared the important message of what
should and shouldn’t go down our toilets and
roadside drains. Both proved popular again and we
are currently working on a new workshop for the
summer.
National Eco Committee
The National Eco Committee (NEC) returned in
June 2022; the first face-to-face event since the
pandemic. Platinum Eco-Schools were invited to
send pupil representatives to one of three events
across Wales - Tredegar, Carmarthen, and Ruthin.
The theme was based on the One Planet Picnic
concept, looking at how our food choices can
have a significant impact on the planet. Although
numbers were lower than our last NEC pre-Covid, it
was fantastic to be able to run such an event again
and all schools that participated enjoyed attending.
“Mwynhau rhannu syniadau, ac wedi
dysgu llawer o ffeithiau newydd, plannu a
bod yn greadigol yma yn yr Eco-Bwyllgor
Cenedlaethol. Diolch am y gwahoddiad”.

“Our ethical informed citizens were delighted to attend the
National Eco Committee event today with Fochriw primary as a
Caerphilly CBC school. We loved the opportunity to learn further
and spread awareness of environmental issues.”
