Innovative Solutions

Climate change is a global problem so, to try and address it, people
around the world are devising global solutions. The way we grow food is

very important, but it is also important to look at the whole cycle of food
production and how we can maximise every opportunity to benefit our

        planet.

Can you imagine ‘silk’ made from orange

                                                              peel?

                     ‘Cotton’ created from unwanted banana

                                             skins?

             Discarded pineapple leaves reinvented into

                                                         ‘leather’?

Well, there’s no need to imagine since innovative

individuals and companies across the globe have
                                        already made them a reality!

Taking inspiration from cycles in nature, where

nothing gets wasted, all these by-products from
our food industry have been manufactured into

beautiful fashion items, that don’t negatively
impact our planet, and simultaneously maximise

the resources that are already being used in food

                                        production.

Many of the global solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises have

been developed from wild imaginations and some fantastical ideas. We
know that young people have limitless imaginations and brilliant ideas! We

invite you to share any of your inventions, pictures, designs, and visions of

solutions for a sustainable future. We would love to share them in our next
newsletter so please get creative and send them over to us at eco-schools@
