SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH
Jacob Meador, Crew Chief, LRG24
Tell me a little more about how you started with Loram, how did you hear about the job,
which positions you’ve held?
I heard about Loram while I was working at Union Pacific Railroad oddly enough. I brought a work train of ballast rock to a
Loram ditching machine on the Austin Subdivision near San Antonio, TX. Sadly, several months later I was laid off from U.P.
and while on the job search Loram came across my laptop and the rest was history. I interviewed in January of 2016 and
flew up to Hamel in March of 2016 to begin my New Hire Training. Since my days as a New Hire, I have held the posi-
tions of: General Laborer, Operator-1, Operator-2, and Crew Chief.
What do you enjoy most about working at Loram?
The opportunity to work internationally and being able to explore the
places I travel for work.
What is your favorite memory from this past year?
Working over in India.
Where is your hometown and what is the best
thing about it?
I grew up in the booming city of Lolita, TX, population 350. It has
grown some since I lived there, but its best quality remains - Taqueria
Las Fuentes
Do you have any hobbies?
Learning about new things, reading, watching movies, and
mixing music. I have a pioneer ddj-600 I like to mess around
with.
What is something about yourself that would surprise your coworkers?
I was a drum major in marching band and played trombone.
What is the biggest challenge you face on the road and how does it affect your life? How do you
deal with it?
My biggest challenge on the road is taking college courses online and not letting it effect my work performance. Time man-
agement is the best way to deal with this stress.
