What is something about yourself that would surprise your coworkers?

I am an open book, and my coworkers usually know exactly what is going on in my life. There are four members in
my household, and I am the only member that does not have a blackbelt in karate. My wife is a second degree, Shay
is nearly a fourth degree and Reese is a first degree. You can start feeling sorry for me now!

What is the biggest challenge you face on the road and how does it affect your life? How do you
deal with it?

My travel schedule is not nearly as rigorous as many of the readers. The challenge has always been balancing work
life and time away with personal commitments at home. My solution has been a family that is very supportive and
understanding of my career aspirations. When I am home, I spend quality time with my family which has included
coaching sports, camping and playing any game that has a competitive element.

What is the best advice anyone has given you, and who was
it from?

I have had many people who have influenced me over my lifetime. My
parents, while not advice givers, thought me through their example
the meaning of work ethic and respect. My best friend, Greg Lau-
mann, convinced me that college was the right path for me. I was the
first person to graduate from college in my family and the experience
showed me all the possibilities that were available to me. Leland
Dake, a senior vice president at Supervalu, advised me to expand my
experiences beyond finance by taking a position in product manage-
ment. This change led to many roles in various functional areas at
Supervalu and provided me with a very diverse set of skills and expe-
riences. Lastly, the advice from Phil Homan to join Loram. It opened
my eyes to a new industry and afforded me the possibility of working
with great people in a great business.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?

I am a sports fan. I enjoy football and hockey the most. My favorite
teams are the Vikings and the Wild.
