Robert Dehart
Superintendent, DC2
Tell me a little more about how you started with Loram, how did you hear about the job, which positions
you’ve held?
I saw the job advertised in a local paper and signed up with a friend, both were hired but he left after a year. I’ve
been an Operator, Crew Chief and Superintendent and worked on TLU1, BC9, BC17 and DC2,
What do you enjoy most about working at Loram?
Traveling and seeing new areas.
What is your favorite memory from this past year?
Being able to spend time with family and friends.
Where is your hometown and what is the best thing
about it?
I live in Morehead, KY. It is a small college town in the
Appalachian Mountain area, but within an hour or so of
numerous larger cities.
Do you have any hobbies?
I collect toys/games mainly from the 80’s, things we couldn’t afford growing up.
What is something about yourself that would surprise your coworkers?
I do a lot of donating weather it be time or money. I dress up every year as the Grinch and Santa back home, usu-
ally at random times just solely for the reactions I get from strangers. I get requests from local fire departments
when they do Helping Hands for families in need around the holidays.
What is the biggest challenge you face on the road and how does it affect your life? How do you deal
with it?
I don’t have a wife or kids, but I do miss having time with my family and friends. I try my best to communicate
everyday and spend as much time as I can with them when I’m home.
What is the best advice anyone has given you, and who was it from?
They can’t take away your birthday so don’t take it too seriously. My mother.
What advice would you give a new employee at Loram?
Stick it out. It does get better but everything in life has its ups and downs.
