SAFETY FOCUS
The Future of Environmental Health and Safety Reporting
By Mitchell Kruse, Safety Specialist
Across the world, the Loram enterprise is going live with Intelex as its standard tool to report, respond,
and analyze critical environmental health and safety (EHS) information. To date, nearly all major business units that
report EHS information have completed their initial user training and have begun using the Intelex system in their
daily operation. As major leader in the EHS software solution market, there are plenty of new bells and whistles
that come with this solution. In this article, I will outline the three major applications that Loram has implemented
and the systems they are replacing.
EHS Incident Management is the new application where all incident reports will be captured. As a direct
replacement to our Lotus Notes injury and damage reporting forms database, the EHS Incident Management appli-
cation will be the one stop shop for reporting all major EHS related events be it an environmental spill, employee
injury, or a close call event. Although for the time being you will still see the old Lotus Notes safety forms on your
th
computers, the ability to report new EHS events will be officially turned off on June 30 .
Interactions will be the application used to capture all employee ILEARNED interactions. This replaces the
NovaCura application ILEARNED and will be the primary tool for our leadership team members to capture how
they engage their employees on Loram’s various safety programs, policies, and initiatives. Similar to Lotus Notes
th
injury and damage reporting, the ILEARNED application will officially be turned off on June 30 .
The Inspections application is where all EHS related audits will be completed. This supersedes the Field
Safety and Environmental Audit (FSEA) and the RIV Audit found within Lotus Notes. With its streamlined process for
creating and scheduling checklist style inspections, you can expect the development of other inspections to sup-
port our Life Changing Decisions and In-Gaged safety programs in the near future. As you may have guessed it,
th
both the FSEA and RIV Audits found in Lotus Notes will be turned off on June 30 .
As we take these first steps in learning and using this new software, we collectively need to understand
that it will time for individuals, and Loram as an organization, to make the most out of these shiny new applica-
tions. To best aid the Loram enterprise in learning all things Intelex, the Microsoft Team: Intelex Support has been
created. This is where all work instructions, help videos, and new developments will be communicated. Make sure
to join the team to stay in the loop!
