Types of Geothermal Plants

There are three basic types of geothermal power plants, namely, dry steam, flash steam, and

binary cycle.

Flash steam plants are the most common type of geothermal power plants. In flash stream power
plants, high pressure water is pumped from deep underground and is converted to steam to drive

generator turbines. When the steam cools, it condenses to water and is re-injected back into the

ground where it is used again.
