Of more widespread discomfort, and justifiable concern, was what transpired at CSEC
EDPM exams. This examination required that students upload their products online at the
end of the examination. Numerous centers indicated that instructions to submit the products
online were received on the very day of the exam. However at every school visited, students
could not upload and had to find CDs to save their responses. In prior years, products were
printed.
The following recommendations are proffered:
i. CXC should revise their timetable and schedule one examination per day when Paper 2
(AM) exams are listed;
ii. Media Kits must be made available to centres at least two days prior to a sitting;
iii. Students’ password credentials must be double checked and verified by CXC before
advising invigilators/ candidates of same;
iv. Dedicates lines of communication among CXC/Local Registrar/ Invigilators
(Technicians) must be established;
v. Invigilators must satisfy functional ICT competencies in order to function effectively at
e-testing examinations;
vi. An ICT Technician must be assigned to each centre where candidates attempt e-testing
examinations
vii. Continued dialogue between the Examinations Section/Local Registrar and CXC in order
to find solutions to issues encountered.
viii. CXC provide greater evidence that their systems can handle the traffic when students
attempt to upload their responses simultaneously.
