The concept of energy sustainability incorporates the analysis of
the environmental dimension, which is focus of this Manual; as
such, three critical aspects are discussed: renewable energy,
energy efficiency and energy conservation. It was mentioned
earlier that sustainable energy emphasizes energy efficiency
and use of renewable sources. In each case, measures must be
taken to avoid or reduce any negative environmental
consequences and optimise the positive ones, for example, through energy conservation.
