Experiencing the Annual ‘Monster’ of the Caribbean
the cars and small trucks had food supplies,
water, and containers that people would be using
during the storm.
On the day of the hurricane, our landlord
hurriedly boarded up the windows. My father
rushed swiftly to the car and sped off to the
nearest store. Meanwhile, my mother was shaking
me violently trying to keep me awake. I slept like
a baby. I was only five years old at the time.
