Experiencing the Annual ‘Monster’ of the Caribbean
The last thing I heard was a deafening “Boom!”
When I woke up, I looked outside. Trees were
uprooted and debris was everywhere. Many roads
had been temporarily transformed into rivers.
The roof of our house was on the road! I heard
something crumbling and my instincts kicked in.
I was just in time to dodge a falling piece of debris.
Not too far from our house on the opposite side
was a mangled gas station. The thick steel pillars
were twisted like metal rods. Many of our
neighbours’ roofs were torn off too. A large
forty-foot container was overturned like a bucket.
Dead animals were everywhere on the road.
