              thero was practically no trade with the United Kingdom* The figures
              taken from Certificates of Origin and Interest issued by this office
              show only that Rials 175,200 worth of wool was exported to London
              during the year.
                   Trade with India Increased, especially the import of sugar and
              tea* South African sugar also found its v/ay into Iran, but this
              province mostly dealt with India by the land route via Zahidan-
              ?uetta. The hoarders of Kerman speculated in sugar and tea, parti­
              cularly after the fall of Java, and Indian merchants found a good
              chance of selling sugar 400-600 % higher than the purchase price.
              Other imports from India were spices and piece goods.
                   The exports from Kerman according to Certificates of Origin
              and Interest issued from Kerman are as under

                (b) Anglo-Iranian Oil Company Ltd.

                   Mr. M. Iranpur, held charge of the company*3 agency at Kerman
             throughout the year, with the follov/ing sub-agencies under him
                   Bandar Abbas, Haji-a-bad, Sirjan, Bam, Rafsinjan and Anar.
                   Owing to lack of tyres the transport charges on bringing petrol
             from Bandar Abbas to Kerman and other places in the province have
             increased 300-400 55* compared with the beginning cf the year, but
             the prices of Kerosine Oil and petrol have shown only a moderate
             rise as given below

                   There is no competition here and the company*s' other products
             .uobil oil and grease hove a good sals. The quality of those
             products has much improved.

                   (i) Medical.

                       Dr. (Miss) Howgate remained in-charge of the hospital
             throughout the year. Dr. (Miss) Blackwood worked as 2nd doctor
             till October, when she was relieved by Dr. Wild.

                       The C*M*S* Hospital continues to do excellent work, and
            has won appreciation from rich and poor alike* It has been possible
            to increase the facilities for the froe treatment of poor patients
            owing to a grant received from the Anglo-iranian Relief Committee.
