I have now received Government’n ordcro on tho oubjeot of
cuetomo duty charged in Bahrain on tranoit goodo which are
oent from Indian and other foreign porto via Bahrain oonoigned
to merchanto on tho mainland.
Hitherto Shaikh ’lea hao boon charging duty on
the above kind of goodo,namely,tho oame rate ao i8 charged

on ordinary imports. (On Your Kxool.lenoy’ o rupreoentation
which I duly oubmitted to Govermont) the matter hao boon
fully conoidorcd by thom/Govornmont and it io docidad that
in accordance with International ruloo gonorally accoptod
only duty will be charged on tranoit goodo consigned to
mainland,provided that thooc are removed from tho Bahrain
cuotome houoc within 20 dayo from date of landing, If goodo
arc taken from oteamcro direct into lightoro.which proocod

to the mainland without touching Bahrain.tr.cn no duty will.
be charged by the Ruler of Bahrain.
Thio order applieo to the whole coaot of HASA and
QATAR but doco not apply to goodo going to Oman ao theoe
uoually go via DIBA1.
