Aoting undor the orders of Ilis Majesty's Government, I
have the honour to oend you a letter from .the Deputy Politi
cal Resident in the Persian Gulf in which are embodied the
final orders of the Government of India to Your Excellency
in the matter of Cuotoms Charges levied by Your Excellency
on goods (tranohipmont) consigned to the mainland from India
and other ports via Bahrain.
In a further communication sent me by the Deputy Poli
tical Resident under his No. 182r-8, dated 13th June 1920, I
am instructed to inform Your Excellency that the new ordors
laid down by His Majesty's Governnu nt of India are to apply
to all ports on the mainlund served by Bahrain, that is to
say, OJair, Qatif and minor porto in Qutif and Haona, also
the state of Qatar. The Trucial coast towns and villages
which are suppllod by Dibai are not included in those ins
tructions .
2. At first sight the new orders may appear to Your Excel
lency as severe and likely to greatly reduce Your Excollonoy'o
customs receipts. I would,however, remind you that His Majes
ty's Government has been informed by His Excollency Shaikh Sir
Abdul Aziz bin Abdur Huhmun A1 Faisal A1 Saud, K.v,.I*u*Ruler
of NeJd,Hasua and Dapenduncioo that he has pasood orders by
which all Qaoolm trade, will, infuture, enter Nejd via the
port
