I should also like to know whether any progress
has been made in obtaining an Educational Adviser, and
aloo in tho oodifioation of the decrees and regulations
which I first suggested noarly fifteen years ago.
7.' lastly — to ooneider new projects, Your
memorandum No.C/1162 dated 29th December 1946 states that
three generating sets in the present power house are
obsolescent. It eoema to me that we should prose for
the removal of the power house to a new oentrally situated
site to bo fitted with new generators.

Vhen is the pumped water supply system likely to
i
: bo installed ? If the Adviser does not now do so he
should at least bo able to get and give you estimates for
the completion of such sohemes*
Has the Bahrain Government any plans for repair-
lng the roade and streets T It seems to me to be
continually relying on the Oil Oompany to lend it machinery*
such ao graders'* for this workj and to be time that the
Oovemment thought of buying some for itself*
It also seems that a town plan is badly needed
for Uanama — and a real effort to Garry it out. The
cutting off of a few corners here and there is ovidenoe
of complete haphasardnese in this respect, Something
might also be done to encourage the building of oement f’
houses when oement again becomes cheap.
The possibilities of a briquetting plant might
also be considered.
8. I hope you will be able to give attention to
these matters before I reaoh Bahrain so that we can make
some progress when 1 do get there.
