which they were certain would be satisfactory.
4. I then went on to talk to them at great length about
reducing the Ruler's share of the oil royalties to one-fifth
when the next Shaikh comes along, I need not describe all
the arguments I used and of course I did not demand an
immediate reply. • But we arranged that we would continue
the discussion later when they had had time to think it over;
their first reactions were by no means unfavourable.
