1360 (4th May 1941) from Ills Highness the Shaikh of Bahrain
to the Honourable the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf,

                                                  /
1 W£ ^honoupod^ by the receipt of your two letters
                                 s' /
                         No3. 183 and 184 dated the 10th April 1941 and read all
that you wrote in connection with my letter to Mr. Belgrave
about the Bahrain revenues and the arrangements necessary
for thio year. Your Honour, I appreciate your valuable

advice and the sorrow you expressed for past years when
the revenues were small and insufficient to meet the
expenditure and your pleasure v/hen conditions improved.
The reason for my wishing to increase the allowances of
my family, the A1 Khalifah, is the apparent increase in

prices of all things. There are also certain individuals
of the family for whom no allowances have been made and
others whose allowances are small but 1 agree that we
should not touch the -Jrd reserve under the present
                         difficult circumstances. hjS°
                                                                         f
1 thank you for telling the merchant who told you
about something which does not concern him that you do not
cafe to hear such things. We shall try as much as possible
to order our expenses in a proper manner.
I repeat my thanks to Your Honour for your good
intentions towards my country and myself.
