            ADMINISTRATION ^EPORT^OF^TIIS^TAJF.STY’S CONSULATE-

                   (For the Consular District of Bandar Abbas and Lingah).

                                A. BRITISH INTEREST.
                1.  His Majesty's Consulate-Personnel.—Major C. II. Lincoln O.B.E.,
            held charge till the 17th November 1935, when lie went on leave and Captain
            Bazalgette took over.
               2.  Mesopotamia Iran Corporation Limited.—Mr. I. D’Sa was clerk
            in charge till 7th February when Mirza Saleh Pishdad relieved him. Mr.
            P. S. M. DeSouza relieved the latter on the 24th September.
               3.  Evacuation of Basidu and Hen-jam.—The news of the evacuation
           of Henjam and Basidu by the British Navy caused great comment. The
           local authorities hope that the British will evacuate Bahrein next.
               4.  The British Indian Firm of Seth Menghraj Lilaram.—The British
           Indian firm of Seth Menghraj Lilaram bought an export license from
           Bodharam and Kal Glnilam Reza, merchants of Bandar Abbas. Gold worth
           of Rials, 21,190 was found hidden in the consignment of goods exported
           under this license. The firm were accused of being implicated in the
           smuggling of gold, but were acquitted by the local court. The Customs
           appealed against this acquittal, and the appeal Court at Kerman sentenced
           Menghraj Lilaram’s Manager, Kal Ghulam Reza, and Bodhamal to 3
           months imprisonment, and a joint fine,of Rials, 42,380. The firm has
           appealed to Tehran.

                                B. LOCAL OFFICIALS.
               1.  Govenorate-Personnel.—Agha Ismail Khan “Bahadur” was Gover­
           nor of Bandar Abbas throughout the year. He was also President of the
           Municipality.
               His Excellency Mirza Mohammed Ali Khan Rnkni, Governor of Gulf
           Ports, visited Bandar Abbas, Lingah, Henjam, Basidu, and Kishm in May.
              The Governor of Bandar Abbas was ordered by the Ministry of Interior
           to nominate suitable candidates for election to the Majlis. He nominated
           Khan Sahib Ebrahim Gelladary and Ilaji Mushir Dawani, and openly
           expressed his preference for the former, as being the more experienced of
           the two. Khan Sahib Ebrahini Gelladary, on account of his long connec­
           tion with the British Government was not elected.
              The Governor of Bandar Abbas inspected Jask in June. The Gover­
          nor, under instructions from Tehran, convened a meeting at the Bagh-e-
          Mellic (Municipality Garden) in the month of July to start a sports Club.
          A sum of Rials, 4,000 (£ 50) was subscribed. The Governor considers the
          amount insufficient, and hopes to raise more.
              2.  Ling a h.—Aqay i Fahimi was Governor till 28th August, when he
          was  relieved by Aqayi Mirza Karim Khan Nawab.
              3.  Provincial Customs.—Mirza Abu Talib Khan Abasalti was Director
          of Customs till 8th May 1935, when he was relieved by Mohamcd All Mirza
          Doulat Shahi.
              Mirza Mohammed Ali Khan Golsha Iyan, the Inspector from the
          Ministry of Finance, inspected the Customs at Charbar and dismissed
          Mukhberi for misappropriation of Government Funds. lie called upon
          'Abasalti, the Provincial Director of Customs at Bandar Abbas, to explain
          why he had not dispensed with the services of Mukhben, when Nik Khah
          reported the misappropriation of Funds, instead of appointing him Mudir
          of Kishm.
