                Mirza Mohamed Ali Khan Golsha Iyan arrived from Bushire, on
            inspection, on the Gth and proceeded to Charbar on the 20th March. He
            returned on the 4th April and left for Tehran on the 7th.
               5. Shahrabani (Nazmieh).—Savva\\ Ibrahim Khan Ashrafi was Chief
           of Police during the year under report.
               Under instructions from Tehran the local Court sent Karimi of the
           Police Department Kishrn to Tehran in January for trial before the Court
           for Government servants.
               Sarvan Ashrafi, Chief of Police, Bandar Abbas went on a tour of
           inspection to Charbar in February. He also paid a visit to Minab in July.
               Setvan II Abqarry, arrived from Kerman and proceeded to lien jam
           to relieve Setvan II Sharifi, the liaise Shahrabani there, in October.
               Setvan II Khalaf Bcigi who arrived from Kerman in October proceed­
           ed to Kishm Island in November as Raise Shahrabani there.
               For the last six months the Police Department have been censoring all
           foreign and interior mails. Foreign papers are detained, read and deli­
           vered to the addressees, a week late. The Consular mails do not appear
           to have been interfered with.
               Passport Departvicjit.—Passport work is still in the hands of the
           Shahrabani Department.
               Minab.—Setvan III Rasa Illi held charge up to Gth October. Setvan
           II Ali Kaihani held charge from 11th October to the end of the year.
               G. Frontier Guards.—Sargord Safavi was Officer Commanding Frontier
           Guards till 25th January 1935, when he was relieved by Sarvan Faizullah
           Khan Shahab, who held command till 20th August 1935, when Setvan II
           Haji Baba Khan Rafi-ai took over.
               Sargord Safavi, the ^-officer commanding, Frontier Guards, was
           ordered to inspect Jask and Charbar before his return to Tehran, lie left
           Bandar Abbas on the 8th February and was brought back to Bandar Abbas
           under escort in March. He had become insane as a result of venereal dise­
           ase. He went to Tehran in May.
               Servan Shahab, Officer Commanding Frontier Guards, Bandar Abbas,
           went on a tour of inspection to Charbar and returned by land via Jask
           and Minab in June.
               In June, a Frontier Guard at Sirik (Beyaban) at the instigation of his
           sergeant, shot one of his comrades who had refused to join in the division
           of some contraband articles, which the guards had seized from certain
           smugglers. The sergeant and the guard were arrested and brought to
           Bandar Abbas.
               Another frontier guard, by name of Abul, was arrested and brought
           to Bandar Abbas. Abul was found with two trunks containing contra­
           band articles which he declared belonged to an officer who was not in station.
               7. Banque Mellie Iran.—Zainal Abedin Khan Montazenii was the
           Manager till 7th May 1935, when Hussain Agha Afshar took over.
               Herr Ferdinand Voigt (German) and Mr. Mackynejod arrived from
           Khoramshahre on the 3rd July to inspect the Bank and returned on the
           12th.
               From July to November there was a dearth of silver and copper coins.
           No small change was obtainable in the bazaar and the people suffered great
           hardship. Large quantities of silver had been smuggled to Muscat, the
           Trucial Coast or Bahrein, where its intrinsic value was nearly double its
           face value in Iran. To prevent further smuggling, the Bank Manager had
           orders from Tehran to collect all silver coin and to store them pending
           further orders.
               Slierqat Seharni Qomash.-—The first consignment of cotton piece goods
           of 214 bales ordered bv the above company arrived from Japan in Septem-
           her.  The Banque Mellie Iran at Bandar Abbas are the agents for the dis­
           tribution of piece goods to Fast Iran.
