into a large scale riot, It is fortunate in some ways that
tlils tension should find its expression here in communal
disordoi rather than in nationalistic or anti-foreign
demonstration t*s it does in most other Middle Eastern, countries.
But I fear that the existence of this tension must be in some
ways related to one general heightening of nationalistic and
religious fervour spread throughout the Middle East by the
Arabic press and radio.
