Sir, ^ A Gulahck, September 2, 1908.
WITH roforonco to my despatch No. 126 of tho 2let May last, I have tho honour
lo report that tho question of tho protection of Bahroinis in Persia has again boon
raised by a robbery committed near Yezd on a party of twonty-ono Bahreini pilgrims
returning from Moslicd. I have informed tho Persian Ministor for Forcigu Affairs of
tho occurrence, and requested him to causo tho nocessary stops to bo takon for tho
punishment of tho robbors and tbo rccovory of tho money stolon, which amounted to
5,255 lcrans.
Meautimo also, as it appeared to mo to bo impossible for us to allow the victims,
who look to us for protection, to remain at the Vice-Consulato at Yezd in a destitute
condition, I sout instructions to Mr. Blackman, through Ilis Majesty’s Consul-General
at Ispahan, to furnish them with a sum sufficient to enable them to reach tho nearest
British Consulate on their way to their homes, which will, I presumo, bo Shiraz. Tho
money so advanced will bo recoverable from the Persian Government, but meantime I
proposo to request the Indian Government to allow it to bo charged in tho Legation
accounts.
I am takiug this opportunity to urge again tho Persian Government to send
instructions to tho local Imperial authorities to accept tho representations of Ilis
Majesty's Consular Roprosontatives on bohalf of tho Bahreinis in Persia.
I havo, &o.
