YOuH telegram No. 100: Bahroiu.
Subject to concurrence of Grand Vizier, Minister for Foreign Affairs offors to
sond mo on amonded noto, in which following passage is tho only one to whioh
exception can bo taken:—
" A roforonco to provious notes from Minister for Foreign Affairs in regard to
Bahrein and its inhabitants will quito onligliton you os to the situation in that placo
and tho arguments of tbo Persian Qovorumout.”
It has been difficult for tbo Minister for Poroign Affaire to arrange for amendment
of a predecessor’s note, and I doubt our gotting anything bottor unless we aro prepared
to raiso general question, though I might secure omission of words “ as to tbo situation
in that placo.” May I accept it with or without this omission ? I bog for an answor.
I have a Babroini claim which I should put iu aftorwards as an implicit
reaffirmation of our right.
