and he openly expressed to me hie dislike of the Syrian
officinlo employed by the King, and it was evident that
there was no love loot between them. This, ooupled with
the action of the cuotomo inspector, makes it probable that
the Syrian element are endeavouring to undermine the
influence of the Quoaibio. If they are successful it
will be all to the good as far as Bahrain affairs are
concerned.

enclosures to His Majesty's Secretary of State for India
and to His /iajesty'o Minister, Jeddah.
