It uses pressure readings from gauges and measurements
from flow meters to dictate how many pumps and motors have
to run to keep the pressure and flow where it needs to be. On
the outside of the cabinet is a touch screen that allows us to
see what is going on inside.
Inside the cabinet a network of wires, fuses, breakers and
other components regulate the electricity and facilitate the
communication of the PLC to all of the other components. The
pump station works in conjunction with a central control
computer and field controllers that activate the individual
sprinkler heads. More on that part of the irrigation system
next month.
