1. Choose how you want to connect from the drop-down menu - choose from FTP, or
one of the two more secure protocols - FTPS or SFTP.
2. In the FTP Host Address box, type in your FTP host address. If you have a domain
name this is often the same as your domain name. For example, for MAGIX Online
World users, this would be Ftp.MAGIX-online.com.
3. In the FTP username box, type in your FTP username.
4. In the FTP password box, type in your FTP password.
5. The optional Sub-folder box lets you publish your website into a sub-folder. If you
set a sub-folder here, then all the pages in your website will be published to this
folder. Whether or not you have to publish to a sub-folder depends on the
requirements of your web hosting some don’t require you to publish to a sub-folder
at all, while others require you to publish to a ‘public’ or a ‘www’ sub-folder, for
example. You must check the full FTP folder path that your own web hosting
company requires you to publish to before publishing your website, as requirements
vary widely. As an example, if your web hosting company wants you to publish to
‘http://yourdomain.com/public_html’, then you need to type ‘public_html/’ into the
Sub-folder box.
6. If you want a sitemap generated for your website, you need to enter the full URL of
your published website in the Website URL field. For the sitemap, a file called
sitemap.XML is automatically generated. This is a list of the pages on your website,
and helps search engines find and list all the pages in your site. If no URL is
specified here when you publish your website, no sitemap is created.
7. Click the Explore web space button to browse, view and delete files you have
uploaded to your FTP server (Optional). You can also set a Sub-folder path which
will automatically appear in the the Sub-folder (optional) field.
8. When you are finished click OK to take you back to the Publish tab of the Web
Properties dialog.
