It is indeed an honour and privilege to welcome you all to this virtual Energy Conference by IIA India – Calcutta
Chapter coined as “Energizer” scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

2020 brought unprecedented disruption across the energy landscape. However, long-term demand impact of
COVID-19 is modest, as energy demand rebounds quickly post-COVID-19. Following recovery from the COVID-19
shock, investments in the energy system are expected to grow steadily as government policies are turning very
important in transition of the energy industry.

In this backdrop, the theme of the conference “Global Energy Sector Transformation: role of Governance & Risk”
is absolutely trending. The global Power and Energy sector is experiencing a huge transformation in terms of
investment in technology, loss reduction program, quality power to all and shifting dependency from fossil fuel to
renewable as Zero Carbon 2050 target. Digitization, being the critical strength in capability building for the highly
integrated energy industry today, there has been a paradigm shift in the related risks, controls and governance
scenarios.

Within this global pandemic, internal auditors with the range of professional skills, position in the organization
hierarchy and deep knowledge of operations has positioned themselves to play a key role in the process of
organizations becoming crisis resilient and transforming to ‘New Normal’. Internal audit can help prepare
organizations to face a crisis, provide assurance over readiness, and help instil a crisis-resilient culture. Hence, it
is essential for internal auditors and risk management professionals today to upskill themselves with unique set
of knowledge and skills to support organizations of energy sector in achieving strategic objectives.
