                                    3continuedOn Tuesday evening, 50 gals attended the Women of KC Gathering event which featured a presentation: %u201cThe Roots of Empowerment, Embracing Your Story and Owning Your Strengths,%u201d by Dr. Shirley Lefever, Ph.D., Provost and Executive Vice President, Wichita State University (WSU). Shirley shared her professional journey from teaching 5th and 6th grade in a small rural community to becoming the Provost and Executive Vice President at WSU. As a first-generation college student, Shirley told how she embraced her roots and the lessons learned as a result of her life experiences. She shared insights on her mentors and role models, and tips for balancing professional and personal life. Participants enjoyed charcuterie delights, giveaways, and fun conversation with peers from across Kansas.The 2024 KAC Annual Business meeting began early on Wednesday morning, December 4. The agenda for the annual business meeting included a membership vote for approval to adopt the 2025 Legislative Policy Statement and KAC Bylaw changes. For this year%u2019s membership votes on the Legislative Policy Statement and Bylaw changes, KAC utilized a new electronic voting system allowing Kansas County voting delegates to place their votes on their phone, laptop or tablet. KAC Executive Director Bruce Chladny presented the %u201cState of the Association.%u201d Following the state of the association, a presentation of ACEC%u2019s 63rd Annual County Public Improvement Awards was held. The 2024 awards were presented to Lincoln County (photo on right below) for their 60th Road Reclamation Project and to Barton County (photo on left below) for their Off-system Bridge #202 Replacement Project.
