                                    NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH


                                                               The Mysterious Key
                                     1  Ben did not remember when he first saw the key.   It was a long, slender, silver key,

                                  and it had a faded red ribbon tied to it.   He did not tell anyone that he had found it in

                                  the center drawer of his grandfather’s old oak desk.   He wondered what was the key
                                  for, so he walked from room to room in his grandparents’ house, searching for a lock

                                  the key would open.   In his grandparents’ bedroom, inside the nightstand next to the

                                  bed, Ben found a small wooden box.   The key fit!   What he found inside the box took
                                                                              7

                                  his breath away.   He quickly locked the box, put it back into the nightstand, ran out of
                                  the bedroom, and placed the key back into the center drawer of his grandfather’s desk.

                                  9  Whether he ever told anyone was in the box also remains a mystery to this day.
