                                     1  This ethnographic case study will focus on a group of five first-year college

                                  students.   The group will include both students who have chosen a major and those

                                  who have not.   The study will to seek to identify the types of campus resources available

                                  to these students and how often the students use them.   Campus resources may include

                                  both academic and nonacademic ones.   Academic resources might include the library

                                  and its tutoring services.   Nonacademic resources might consist of access to exercise
                                  equipment and on-campus movies.   The study takes place during the upcoming fall

                                  semester and will last approximately eight weeks.   Data collection methods will include
                                  both observations of participants and follow-up interviews.   Notes from interviews will

                                  be transcribed and analyzed in order to categorize the types of resources that are used
