Common Error 6.3  Do you hedge correctly?

            RemembeR:  Academic writers often use may, might, can, and could to hedge. They avoid
                         conversational expressions such as I think or maybe.

           Restate these sentences with the hedging modals in parentheses.

             1. I think some house plants are a dangerous addition to your home, especially if you have small children
              or pets. (may)


             2. Standing desks are becoming more and more popular, but many people with back pain are causing
