7.1 TREATMENTS
Reiki: Reiki is a non-invasive gentle treatment that can promote deep
relaxation, reduce anxiety and increase wellbeing. This treatment is carried
out on people seated or lying down and treatment can be adapted to offer
hands and/or hands off the body to work with energy flow. This treatment can
be particularly effective for individuals who are not comfortable with hands on
therapies, including massage.
Aromatherapy massage and oils: Aromatherapy massage is the
practice of using essential oils for therapeutic benefit. Massage can also
help to induce a relaxation response, which can lower the heart rate,
respiratory rate and support wellbeing. Individual health consultations were
undertaken to ensure the appropriate safe allocation of oils. These oils are
effective in stimulating small receptors in the nose which can have a positive
effect on emotions.
Indian Head Massage: Indian head massage is a treatment that can help
to decrease stress levels and promote a sense of relaxation. This treatment can
be offered on a massage chair through the clothes on areas including the head,
neck, shoulders and back. This treatment is effective in slowing down a racing
mind and also has many physical benefits including releasing muscular tension.
Auricular Ear Acupuncture and meditation: This treatment
involves the use of small sterilised needles in 5 specific points in each ear to
reduce the impact of withdrawal symptoms from alcohol, opiates, cocaine
and amphetamines (NADA Scotland, 2023). Meditation is used alongside this
treatment to promote a sense of focus, calmness and clarity.
