11.2 THE WARWICK-EDINBURGH MENTAL
WELL-BEING SCALE (WEMWBS) TABLE
Participants were asked to complete the well-being scale at the first session and
at the last session and data analysed. All participants had scored low on the
wellbeing scale at the initial session but all reflected improvements at the last
treatment session. The majority of people had moved into moderate well-being,
with a small group moving into high wellbeing. In particular, people reported
feeling more optimistic, interested in new things, relaxed, thinking more clearly,
feeling closer to others and dealing better with problems.

STRESS, ANXIETY AND CRAVINGS
Prior to the first complementary therapy session, participants were asked to
record levels of stress, anxiety and cravings on a scale of 1-5. This scale was
simplified to reflect a low level (1) and a high level (5). All participants scored
high for anxiety and stress levels. Cravings were also high for the majority of
participants.
