Byfleet Manor was purchased in 1891 by Mrs Albert Rutson, after a history of royal ownership and later sold into
private ownership.
Certainly the heyday of the garden was in Edwardian times under the ownership and care of Mrs Albert Rutson.
Mrs Rutson had a dozen or more gardeners to maintain the marvellous gardens and planted wild and spring
flowers among the alders and willows and flowering blossom trees on the banks of the river channels.
