TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT THE CASTLE
1. The property is amazing....our back patio area is private and so relaxing. We love
seeing the variety of local wildlife from this vantage point, and an in-ground pool
would work perfectly in the topography (we even had a plan drawn to include it in the
landscaping). Plenty of rooms for paddock and horses as well.
2. We designed the open floor plan of the oversized kitchen with flexibility. It could easily
accomodate a comfortable seating area (which is how we use it), or a casual dining table.
3. Many nuances of the original structure were kept and incorporated into the renovation. For
example, the beautiful rose quartz (locally mined) fireplace in the kitchen is so unique. We use
that fireplace all the time while preparing dinner or sitting in this room in the evening.
4. This home has fantastic entertaining space. We love to gather for holidays or special
occasions. In fact, we've hosted a few intimate weddings on the property as it's such a magical
setting!
5. Gorgeous sunrises from the back are wonderful to enjoy with coffee on the terrace, and
beautiful sunsets from the front balcony while relaxing with a glass of wine. Spectacular.
6. Because the structure was built by Freemasons, Masonic symbols are visible throughout
the stonework. Most prevalent in the fireplace surrounds and the lower level office. This
area of the home might have been where the local Masons gathered for their meetings.
7. Having 2 bedrooms and a separate full bath on the main level is wonderful for guests to
enjoy. Could easily be customized for a perfect in-law or au pair scenario. Would have it's
own entrance and separation of living space. The amount of stonework in the walk-out
lower level is incredible. Over 4,000 square feet of usable space, perfect for a wine cellar,
media room, sprawling home office and storage areas.
8. NYC is a mere 72 miles away, or a 20 minute ride to the Metro North train line. Routes 84,
95 and the Merritt Parkway are very convenient as well. Feel like you're in the country, but
actually close to everything.
9. Proximity to nature trails and Lake Zoar is wonderful. Easy access to miles of Webb
Mountain walking trails, and if you're a boater, Lake Zoar is a hidden gem offering a boat
launch for small-craft motor boats, party boats and wave runners.
10. The small town feel of Monroe is like no other. With excellent schools, incredible parks and
recreation, gorgeous library, summer farmer's market and fairs throughout the year.
