An Interview with...

                                                          THE PROUD HOMEOWNERS OF

                                                                     THE CASTLE

Q: What are some of your favorite features of the house?

A: When we took on the project, we had no idea there would be so many amazing features

that we would love about this house. The space we spend the most time in is the open
kitchen. We love having the sitting area as part of the kitchen that we can relax in and
enjoy. Entertaining in this house is magnificent! The sunrises from the rear of the house
are beautiful with morning coffee, and the sunsets while sitting on the front veranda are
spectacular. The lower level stonework is definitely the most impressive. Incredible detail
and craftsmanship in the arches and symbols are definitely one-of-a-kind.

Q: What made you buy this property and take on such a renovation?

A: Are you kidding... how many times in your life can you say that you live in a Castle? The

Sisters of the Holy Family could no longer maintain the structure, and it fell into disrepair.
The historical society asked my husband (a local builder) to look at the property to see if it
could be salvaged. We couldn’t let it be demolished so we decided to purchase it and set
out to restore it back to a grand residence.

Q: What's it like to live in a home/structure with so much unique history?

A: Very special. There is so much symbolism throughout the home connected to the
Freemasons and the fact that the kitchen was the original chapel for the Sisters. Because
of it's history, it is even more meaningful to have completed the renovation. The stone
architecture and parapets are striking. We often see cars slow down and stop just to view
                                  and admire the structure.

Q: Describe your design/drawings for a future garage addition and in-ground pool?

A: We felt that adding a large garage, pool cabana and in-ground pool would be perfect to
round out the back part of the house. When we added the mudroom off the kitchen in
2018, adding the garage on the other side was Phase II of the design. You could even have
living space above the garage structure, so there are many options of how a future garage
could be built. We do have drawings and approvals in place.

                          Q: Why are you moving?

A: We have accomplished our goal of saving this historic property and we are now looking for

                          another construction adventure.
