TOP TEN THINGS

    YOU WILL LOVE

About life at 288 Birch Road

        1. Living a block and a half from the beach is totally 5. The neighbors are WONDERFUL I miss them very

life-changing. In the summer it’s like you’re living much. They are what make this street so special. We
in a vacation house, on the weekends you can just were always greeted with a warm smile and wave on
wake up and easily get the family to the beach for a our nightly walks!
day of swimming walking and relaxing. If you forgot
to pack something no problem it’s a 5 minute walk
back to the house! Or go back for lunch and then 6. Cooking with family and friends in the kitchen and
back to the beach for more swimming and fun (your back area. It’s dated yes but the bones are great my
neighbors will watch your stuff). And being so close mom was an avid cook and designed it for plenty of
means weekday evenings are beach evenings too, storage and counter space and easy access to all –
change out of work clothes and head down for a all while entertaining guests who are hanging out at
dip. There was scarcely a day gone by where I didn’t the island or over at the sitting area. Keep the meal
go for a walk on the beach, winter or summer, it’s a going, keep the conversation going. In the winter get
huge stress reliever and reset. You’ll get to know the the wood stove going and you’ll notice the whole
tides and moon cycles and look forward to walking family including the pets wind up here.
out to the end of Penfield Reef at low tide. Maybe
you’ll get into sailing like I did and keep a boat at
            Penfield II or the marina.

        2. The 4th of July. BBQ’ing with friends and neighbors
and then walking down to the beach for the fireworks.
You’ll realize what an incredible convenience this is
when after the fireworks you see the lines of cars
trying to get out as you’re already home firing up
the grill again and keeping the celebration going
            without pause.

        3. Being walking distance from just about everything

made living here an absolute dream. Walk to the
beach, walk to the library, the YMCA, downtown
for dinner or shopping, the train, the history center,
town hall, church, Burr mansion, Sherman School,
            etc. You have it ALL!

        4. Walking distance from the schools. When they’re

young Sherman School is a short walk, then Jr
High a bit farther when their older, and by the time
they’re in high school they can walk right to Ludlow.
So great to see all the families walking their little
ones to school in the morning, a real heart-warming,
            community feel.
