SPECIAL FEATURES & HOME IMPROVEMENTS
Our home is a historic Georgian neo-colonial designed by
the renowned architect, Cameron Clark. It was originally
designed for George Macy Wheeler, a Bridgeport industrial-
ist. The home features exquisite moldings & quality oak floors
throughout, 5 fireplaces, cozy rooms which can be closed
off for extra comfort or privacy & a full walk-up attic w/ ce-
dar closet. The original landscaping & stone walls were de-
signed by his wife, Agnes Clark, a well-known landscape ar-
chitect. We are in possession of their original drawings.
The first floor consists of a gracious entrance hall; bar be-
tween hall & living room (originally the flower room); living
room w/ fireplace & French doors opening onto lawn; music
room w/ French doors opening onto garden patio; partially
paneled library w/ fireplace, built-in bookcases & cabinets
and a picture window; large dining room w/ Fireplace &
French doors opening onto lawn; butler’s pantry & recently
renovated kitchen/family room w/ rear entrance mud room.
The second floor consists of a master bedroom w/ fireplace,
dressing room & modernized bathroom; a double bedroom
w/ full bath across the hall; guest bedroom w/ private full
bath; 2 additional bedrooms in the back hallway over the
garage w/ full bath & a back service stairway to the kitchen.
This area could serve as an au pair or in-law suite. The 3rd
floor is a full walk-up attic with pine floors, large cedar closet
and encasement arch windows. A fully finished basement
includes a well-lighted walk-out recreation/family room w/
fireplace & pool table; an open office & enclosed laundry
room w/ double sinks and large storage closet.
An extensive kitchen/family room addition was undertaken
in 1981 including skylights to create a passive solar heating
system & southern-exposed all day sun room. This expansion
included the finished walk-out lower level recreation room
w/ fireplace & pool table, a wonderful winter retreat. A new
ironwood deck was added off the kitchen/family room in
2000 which is covered with an awning for seasonal outdoor
extension of the family room.
The home is protected by a monitored alarm system w/ di-
rect connections to fire & police departments and includes
smoke, fire, freeze & Carbon Monoxide detectors.
