SPECIAL FEATURES & HOME IMPROVEMENTS
The Kitchen was totally renovated in 2003 w/ new cabinets, granite
counters and all new stainless steel Wolf ovens & gas stovetop.
There are 2 Bosch dishwashers including one in the existing butler’s
pantry, a great asset for dinner parties & family gatherings.
The 2 furnaces are relatively new & include humidifiers for winter
comfort. During the warmer seasons central air conditioning main-
tains a pleasant environment protecting the contents of the home
and its inhabitants from unpleasant humidity.
The exterior of the home has been meticulously maintained with
replacement of siding where needed. The entire house was
stripped & repainted in 2005/2006 removing any residual leaded
paint. The cedar roof has been periodically replaced w/ new cop-
per flashing, ice shields & ridge vents. Both brick chimneys & sur-
rounding copper flashing were replaced in 1998 maintaining their
colonial style.
The grounds include many specimen trees & shrubs, perennial gar-
dens &border plantings providing privacy screening. An extensive
irrigation system surrounds the house & services the entire rear yard.
Outbuildings consist of a restored antique corn crib set on a field
stone foundation w/ storage beneath & a separate wooden shed
for storage of yard tools.
The in ground oil tanks were remediated in 2004 to comply w/ new
regulations & 2 275 gallon oil tanks were installed in the heated gar-
age. These tanks have been esthetically enclosed w/ cabinetry
above for additional storage. A new Trane gas heater was installed
in the garage in 2005. In keeping w/ environmental safety a total
asbestos abatement was done in 2011 & the house was profession-
ally evaluated & cleared for detectable Radon.
A Generac 25kw generator & 500 gallon underground propane gas
tank was installed in 2006 which has never failed to keep us safe,
functional & warm during occasional periods of power outage, a
decision we have never regretted. The septic system was complete-
ly replaced in 2005 w/ installation of new leaching chambers in the
lower rear yard, This location was chosen to preserve the higher ele-
vation of the rear yard which is ideally suited for a future swimming
pool. In order to protect out specimen plantings and perennial gar-
dens the rear yard has been completely enclosed with inconspicu-
ous deer fencing.
