TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT 2140 BURR STREET
1. The pool area--relaxing, grilling and entertaining. Lounging by the pool
is a highlight of our existence. The garden is a sea of blue and pink, when the
hydrangeas and roses bloom from June through fall making the area beautiful
and oh so private. We love watching the hummingbirds and butterflies dance
from flower to flower while we float in the pool. While meditating in the morning
with a cup of tea, we are serenaded by a symphony of song birds. Our weekend
days end with a relaxing, family-prepared dinner, during which we discuss the days
events while listening to the calming sound of the pool bubblers and absorbing a
background created by the beautiful sunsets. Outdoor lighting and sound system
add to the experience.
2. We enjoy the abundance of wildlife at our home. The Eastern Bluebirds and
goldfinches are a special pleasure during the summer. The red-tail hawks call and
soar above the property on a daily basis. We love watching all the visitors to our bird
feeders and they have trained us with their calls, when the feeders need replenishing!
Being so close to the CT Audubon has enhanced our bird watching. Occasionally, we
get of glimpse of the red fox as he hops across the stone fence or cuts through our
pool garden. We have had migrating snapping turtles lay eggs in the spring, mother
turkeys parading their hatchlings and twice does have birthed their fawns in our
flower gardens.
3. We will miss our neighborhood. The neighbors are so kind and helpful, but not
intrusive or interfering. The area is quiet and very private. We love the easy access to
the Merritt Parkway, yet we do not hear the traffic noise. Getting to the train station
and downtown is a straight shot down Burr Street. The Black Rock Turnpike area
provides easy access shopping such as, Trader Joes, and Target as well as other
stores at the Trumbull Mall Shopping Center are mere minutes away. This location
offers quick access to the Fairfield Woods Public Library and the Main Library is
not much further--a necessity for us to get so that we can take advantage of all the
free programs.
4. We will miss our lovely finished basement family area. It's perfect for
entertaining large groups of teens, adults or our immediate family. We love
building a fire as soon as the weather cools and grilling pizza and making s'mores
over the flames. As soon as football season begins, we are watching the games
on the big screen. Action movies are great with the projection screen/surround
sound and early-to-bed family members, two floors above, are not disturbed by the
volume.
5. This house is so spacious and the rooms on each floor are sizable. There is plenty
of room for guests and privacy is insured. This home lends itself to entertaining.
