As we all got older, married and had children of our own, new traditions blossomed. When
we’d bring the children here for big family meals, afterwards we would all gather on the front
patio. The raised porch area would become the stage for the children who would put n “shows”

for parents and grandparents. As the years went by and the children got older, we added the fire

When we moved back into the home the apple trees that line the driveway were not in great
shape. Our plan was to resurrect these ancient apple trees. For years I pruned them by hand.
It was so much work but yielded no apples at all. I had talked about getting bees for years but
my busy life kept me from fulfilling that task. One spring morning while I was working in the

was a honeybee! I called my friend who keeps bees and announced, “ I think we finally have

a tree somewhere on the property. Shortly thereafter, we found the large cluster of honeybees in
one of our apple trees. The hive was in the shape of a large football. I didn’t need to get bees…
                                                                                                                                                   they chose our apple tree!
