AN INTERVIEW WITH THE HOMEOWNERS
JAMES AND LISA LILLIE
PROUD HOMEOWNERS OF 230 NOD HILL ROAD SINCE 2005
WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS HOME?
We fell in love with the property - which held a tiny and tired 70’s ranch that
the builder was ready to tear down. We had been living in Wilton for over 10
years - moving twice within town, because we loved the town so much. We felt
this was the perfect piece of property to build a home that we designed. We
were able to design and build the perfect home for our children that seemed
to always be the just right house for every age! In addition to the warmth of the
first floor and amazing kitchen, the house boasts a huge walk out basement for a
kitchenette/bar and full bathroom access from the pool, Xbox on the big screen tv
for the boys, pool table for the teenagers, room with ballet barre and mirrors for
my daughter and friends to hold mini dance-off contests and later used as sleep-
over headquarters, full gym and lots and lots of storage!
PLEASE DESCRIBE THE RENOVATION PROCESS ...
We sat with the architect and custom luxury home builder to design the perfect
special place for our family. It took us almost two years from concept to move-
in - but the wait was worth it! Every bedroom suite is its own special sanctuary,
large enough for queen sized or king sized beds, desks, and comfy reading
chairs.. Even the laundry room is a bit of heaven with its spaciousness and large
counter for folding! The master suite is truly special with its expansive views of
the backyard and woods and reservoir beyond.
I SEE THAT YOU INSTALLED A POOL ... ARE YOU GLAD WITH THIS DECISION?
Yes!! The property is perfect for a pool - and with the beautiful gentle slope of
the yard, we were able to design a creative negative edge pool with a waterfall
that gives the most soothing sounds all summer long. The decking around the
pool is gracious with ample room for several lounge chairs and umbrellas, as
well as dining table and chairs. With the music playing in the hidden outdoor
speakers, it is a hotel-pool-like experience - but without the crowds!
WHY ARE YOU MOVING?
We are recent empty nesters and my husband’s business is taking us out of
state. Our home has been the perfect place to raise our children. We have great
memories of playing monster in the pool and roasting marshmallows in the
outdoor fireplace when they were little, to hosting pre-prom pictures with their
friends and friends’ parents around the pool deck and spring flowers once they were
in high school. The home is large enough, with so many things to do, that our kids
loved to hang here with their friends rather than heading out. We loved that!
