The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya has always strived to not only build and maintain a
close relationship with the general public and media, but also to fortify these relations with the use of
well-coordinated and impactful Public Relations campaigns. Given the fact that the Rotaract Club of
University of Peradeniya is an institute-based club, based in a university which has 9 faculties and a
large number of students, conducting such campaigns is vital since it’s the main way in which the
club can attract new members, communicate the club’s objectives and goals to them and
demonstrate the impact of our activities and projects. Furthermore, considering that the majority of
Rotaract clubs are situated in Colombo and that in comparison fewer clubs are situated in Kandy, we
felt that it’s crucial that our club directs these Public Relations efforts to bring to their attention the
information regarding our projects and other club-based activities.
Although Covid-19 has posed a serious challenge in this regard, the club members were able to
triumph over these obstacles with a well-thought-out plan. By launching our very own official
website, keeping our blog content fresh and up-to-date and conducting insightful and exciting new
projects, the club has been successful in streamlining information flows, increasing online presence
and reach and also in improving public access to information significantly this year.
Furthermore, upskilling the Public Relations team of the club which was formed last year, consisting
of two PR directors, digital media directors, a photography director, an editor and a sub-editor and
led by the Vice President represents a step forward in sprucing up Public Relations efforts this year.
The launch of our very own website!
This Rotaract year saw the inauguration of our very own official website aimed at increasing our
online presence further and making our projects and contributions more accessible to everyone. The
website was launched officially by the District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Rtr. PP Kasun Sigera on
th
the 18 of January 2021, on the day of the DRR visit. Over the course of few months, the website has
improved significantly and is now one of the most popular and most-visited websites in the
University. This easy-to-navigate website is replete with information on all the projects that have
been conducted thus far by the club and has also granted easy access to all tutorials and past papers
which were prepared by our club members as part of project “Prathibhana”. Apart from the website,
there is also a separate blog which contains important and detailed information of all projects, where
again viewers have access to tutorials which were created for project Prathibhana.
