The BHES Allotment Project
As many of you will know, Bristol Children’s charity has pledged to support
BHES School for 5 years – this started with the mini-bus we purchased in
May 2022.
As part of the ongoing support, the next big thing we are helping with is
the Allotment project – this took a while to get off the ground as we
needed to secure funding as this too requires a lot of cash to complete.
So far we have had a new bespoke shed and base hand built by Nico
Panigada, we have funded the new raised planting beds which he also built.
We have bought all new tools and even new coats and wellies for the
pupils. We have recently purchased a brand-new 12ft x 6ft greenhouse
(pictured opposite which will be situated at the school (we are currently
awaiting delivery of that item) and when it arrives, Nico will build a level
base and assemble the structure.
None of this would be possible without the help and support we have
received from Beaverbrooks Jewellers, Hardings+ Retail, Taylor Wimpey, UK
Spares and the Freemasons of Bristol (Cabot Lodge) – all these amazing
companies and organisations have collectively donated over £7,000 this
year which has allowed us to fund this amazing project.
The pupils will gain so much from this initiative, which is being led by Alice
Leaper at BHES – Alice’s dedication and commitment to this aspect of the
children’s education, is nothing shy of amazing – she is a true inspiration
to so many
