It took no time at all for Twinkle to float high
over Ucluelet. She gave one big wave to her parents, and
then looked ahead across the Vancouver Ranges. Soon
she was floating above the blue water of the Strait of
Georgia. Oh my goodness, there was an orca down
there. She was so curious, that she dipped down close to
it. Whale sounds are very mysterious and musical. But
she heard odd words, in his strange deep voice:
You will go as high as I go deep.
In the forest, lakes, and mountains, you will sleep.
This is true: your face will be blue.
Twinkle saw the Coast Mountains in the distance,
and thought that she would indeed have to go very high,
hoping her face would not be blue with cold. As she
floated over Vancouver, she remembered Mirabel's Nana
and Opa, Aunt Trudel, and Uncle Andre. Maybe she
would visit them one day with Mirabel.
