academic years by organizing ceremonies at the program level. These ceremonies are held once in
the last 2 years. On the day when the award ceremony is held, the Dean of the program gives a
speech about the importance of teaching and all participants are highly motivated about
education. Afterwards, certificates of recognition are awarded to faculty members who have
excelled in teaching during that year (Annex S2-3-4-5 Student certificates). This evidence S2-3-4-5
shows number of the certificates awarded to group of the top students in the program in one of
its courses, as well as an award for the faculty member who excelled in teaching.
The department has a job performance evaluation system for the staff members which track their
performance (Annex S2-3-4-6) for more information. The evaluation is done once a year, once at
the end of each semester. Results from these evaluations are used by the head of the department
to improve the staff's performance. This job performance evaluation system covers all the
professors in the department and it is an important mechanism that helps to motivate excellence
in teaching and innovation. The evaluation covers many aspects of the teacher's performance and
these aspects are clearly mentioned in this evidence. For example, it covers issues related to the
staff's instructional duties, participation in the program development, skills, research activities,
and many more. After evaluation, the teacher receives a rating out of 5 and this is then used as a
parameter for allocating rewards.

of the assessment methods (e.g., their specifications, diversity, and comprehensiveness to cover
the learning outcomes, distribution of grades and accuracy of marking), and to ensure the level
of student achievement.
Assessment is the process of forming a judgment about the quality and extent of student
achievement or performance. Assessment should reflect closely the purposes and aims of the
course of study. The continuous assessment occurs during the course implementation, while the
final assessment is done at the end of the course. The assessment follows the institutional and
program regulations, as an example, designing and assuring quality of exams of machine design1
course (Annex S2-3-5-1) and (Annex S2-3-5-2 Guidelines for Preparing the Final Exam based on the
Course Learning Outcomes). The methods of assessment used will be dictated by the purpose of
the assessment (Annex S2-3-5-3 Rubrics for Students work Assessment). The students in this
