FORWARD
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
It is a great pleasure to welcome all participants to our first International Postgraduate
Symposium on Food Security, IPSyoFS-22, collaborated with esteemed Bogor
Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia.
I wish to humbly thank the organizing committee, the invited speaker, and the
collaborator for their outstanding efforts, and not to forget all the postgraduate
participants who had invested tireless effort in their valuable research. I believe this
year is particularly valuable to the Faculty of Fisheries and Food Science (FPSM),
Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) the debuting of our first-ever IPSyoFS on a
digital platform for the first time in history.
As the FAO defines, “Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical
and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs
and food preferences for an active and healthy life.” Food security is undeniably the
deciding factor in one nation’s prosperity and development, and researches play a
crucial role in maintaining or, better yet, significantly improving the food security status
of the nation. Here at FPSM, our researchers are actively involved in a multitude of
projects, mainly regarding biotechnology and food safety, the development and
evolution of aquaculture, and advancements in green technology and modern
agriculture.
I am confident the invited speakers of this symposium are uniquely placed to debate
and highlight the key themes, trends, and current practices related to food security.
May the knowledge exchange between speakers and participants bring fresh ideas
into future scientific explorations and initiate new collaborations.
Finally, I would like to extend my best wishes to all of the participants of the IPSyoFS-
22, and congratulations to all the young and bright scientists for presenting their latest
research findings.
Thank you.
