A Message from Mayor Tom Schoaf
Our theme for this quarter’s CityLine is Recreation Services. It has been some time since I reviewed
all the activities provided by our Recreation Services Department. We all know that the Recreation
Center is located south of the Litchfield Park Branch Library and has tennis and basketball courts
and a pool. Did you know that our City website includes a 15-page list of specific activities being
offered through the Recreation Services Department? These activities include adult fitness and adult
kickball, American Red Cross lifeguard training, aquatics swim classes, Lagartos swim team, water
aerobics, basketball, indoor summer team basketball league, flag football, coach pitch baseball,
soccer and a soccer camp, tee ball programs, tennis, and a licensed preschool. Did you know that we
recently replaced the Recreation Center’s facility fitness equipment, painted the building, replaced
the decking and the pool plaster, and remodeled the preschool room and the public restrooms?
The pool is available to reserve for private parties and events and is open mid-April through Labor
Day. Our Recreation Center is looking good and open to serve you.
Activities offered by the Recreation Center and special events provide fun, family-centered activities for our residents including the
Christmas parade, Kiwanis Litchfield Park run, festivals, and the fishing derby. These activities support the ranking of Litchfield
Park as one of the best places to live in Arizona. The Recreation Center is one of the amenities that build our sense of community.
Thanks to all the Recreation Center Staff who do a great job for all of us.
Your City Council and City Staff hope that you continue to enjoy living in ‘the Park’. We are all committed to making ‘the Park’
the best that it can be for all our residents and business stakeholders. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
