A Feast for the Senses
Ireland is a country buzzing all year round with festivals galore. Be it our magical music, literary heritage, our
fabulous food or a “king puck” we have plenty of reasons to celebrate! Choosing to plan your travels to take in
some of the excitement of a festival can be a great way to make new friends and experience something new.
Here is but a glimpse of the many thousands of festivals Ireland has to offer!
GALWAY INTERNATIONAL OYSTER FESTIVAL
This unique festival on the Wild Atlantic Way takes place on the last weekend of September each
year. This is one of the longest running food festivals in Ireland and was first launched in 1954. The
programme features the National Oyster Opening Championships, live entertainment, a parade and a
masquerade ball on the final night.
DINGLE FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL
What better excuse to visit Dingle than to experience it’s wonderful Food Festival in October. Dingle
is renowned for its lively music sessions and world famous scenery. Highlights of this years festival
include a taste trail, cooking workshops, a food and wine market and live entertainment. If you are
walking The Dingle Way, along the route of the Kerry Camino, this would be a fantastic way to finish off
your trip.
KINSALE FOOD FESTIVAL
The beautiful coastal town of Kinsale in West Cork will host the 40th Kinsale Gourmet Festival in October
2016. The festival features a Mad Hatters foodie walking tour, the Kinsale All Ireland Chowder cook-off, a
special Fruits de Mer Luncheon and live music.
THE GALWAY INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL
Taking place from 11th-24th July 2016, Galway’s world renowned Arts Festival is a wonderful treat in
the city of the tribes. From music and theatre to fabulous street entertainment and a pagentry of colour
and culture. This is an opportunity of a lifetime to experience Ireland’s culture at her best.

PUCK FAIR
For over 400 years now between 10th - 12th August, Puck Fair has been celebrated the town of
Killorglin on the Ring of Kerry. A wild goat is crowned and becomes ‘King Puck’. Where else but in
Ireland would a wild mountain goat be crowned King and reign over a town for three days?
