4. We have formed a very successful singing group - RAMS  FOCUS ON LOCAL ARAs
“rams in rhythm” who fundraise for charity by
singing in various commercial outlets in addition pro“snphtheaeeiwrsncatoohtrsgfiudppeveo”rgiet“furohrWaiimrsinnbceptmvoghhoeneommuaedcielstttvlmdebiitteuvnoehobbdeseroeae.ssmrihcrIsefnsokaoedewustenmtothhvnoheeneebivde’cwjrteeovehyerrebrainnsertTegwjhki!looooh”iheefynbuuyovmteesrehecsmaaeedxaawcnautangtetyaysiyrnveyoowmdisnutt&uaihoptectnoerhsnhdfyneaoiaenintnrfdadgces
to singing in hospitals/nursing homes etc. for
the patients/residents. To date we have raised
€15,000 for worthy causes. Comments on a
recent singing event in Tallaght Hospital can be
viewed on the hospital Facebook page!

5. We hold intergenerational events for 5th/6th
class pupils from the local St. Finian’s National
school where we share our memories of the past
& talk to them about their visions for the future.

6. We are affiliated to Active Retirement Network
Ireland and as a result take part in the many
advocacy/training programmes & seminars
organised by them - not to mention the social
events!!

While these are some of the main activities we also
react to local situations as they arise.
Trips to areas of interest to the members are
organised on a regular basis during the year.

I suppose one could say that we “inspired” our good

wives/partners to do likewise as there is now a
thriving Ladies Social Group in Newcastle also.  A

rising tide..... and all that!

A highlight of the year - apart from activities
- would be the fact that we received letters of
congratulations from both the Taoiseach & Minister
for Justice & Law Reform Frances Fitzgerald TD
on the occasion of our 5th birthday recently. Over
the 5 years we have also received several awards
from statutory bodies SDCC/Pride of Place Awards/
Association of Co. Councils etc. for our efforts.

GOALS FOR THE YEAR AHEAD:
• To help our community celebrate the 1916

centenary.
• To continue with our mainstream activities &

by so doing to help the community & those less
fortunate (through our fundraising).
• To enjoy ourselves.
